High School teams which play out of Duncanville’s Dr. Pepper Starcenter will be affected more than most, so we would like to encourage players and students of Midlothian, Mansfield and Mesquite to please go hit the site and show your support! There is an email address listed for you to send in your comments, pictures, suggestions, etc.
We need VOLUME… so please forward this to hockey fans, anyone you know that goes to the rink that I don’t have on this list, family members, etc. The committee has their meeting with Mr. Cogen so we need to have as much positive support as possible as soon as possible!
Update: 09/08/2009 – Duncanville DPSC in the news – Hundreds of parents are fighting plans to shut down the Dr Pepper StarCenter in Duncanville, with the prospect of it being replaced by Bob Knight’s Fieldhouse — a basketball center. It’s stirring such passion that now the team says it may be having a change of plans. -[source]

Wil, Thank you so much for your support, and also the smile at your caption “A rink is a terrible thing to wastek.” Our sentiments exactly.
We have fantastic community support and the Stars have been very receptive to our ideas and suggestions. We have lots of hope that things will turn the corner and we’ll continue to have our rink Duncanville for all the communities beyond that call this “home ice.”
You are welcome Rachel. I wish I lived closer to that rink so I could support it financially. I have skated out there (I loved bringing my children to the parent-child stick-n-puck) and considered it to have great ice. Lets support all of our rinks because indeed, “A Rink Is A Terrible Thing To Waste”
Thanks for the support. Just a gentle reminder: the area served by this rink goes WAY beyond the communities you mention. I personally run my daughter from Waxahachie for her figure skating lessons, and a couple people in our church are there several times a week for hockey! Please don’t forget that the rink serves Waxahachie, Ennis, Italy, Hillsboro even as far east as Corsicana!! Thanks!
